Incentives for Registrars – Effective 2025

Wambo Medical is honoured to be recognised by the RACGP as an incentivised training location in the 2025.1 training semester. This distinction provides GP registrars with financial support to complete their placements in rural and remote areas, helping address critical healthcare needs in our community.

As an RACGP-endorsed training site, we offer a unique opportunity for registrars to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment while benefiting from these incentives. At Wambo Medical, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.

General Practice Training Queensland Incentives

General Practice Training Queensland (GPTQ) recognise the need to support and encourage registrars to consider rural practices and explore rural communities during the early stages of their quest to find a suitable training practice.
This guideline describes the reimbursements available to both general and rural pathway GPTQ Registrars who travel to attend interviews in rural practices/facilities within the GPTQ footprint. Please view the Guideline here.

GPTQ would also like to encourage registrars to come out into rural communities and interview face to face with practices rather than over telephone or video conference. As such a new incentive from GPTQ is available for registrars who have interviewed and are interested in placement at Wambo Medical. Looking To Move Your Medical Career To Greener Pastures?

Wambo Medical is a solo general practice located in Jandowae, a small rural community of roughly 1200 people:

Jandowae is the best of both worlds. A quaint little country town within close proximity to country life in Dalby and Toowoomba and close enough to jump in the car and spend time on the wonderful Sunshine Coast.

Wambo Medical has been an integral part of the Jandowae community for many years however in the past few years, the centre moved into a purpose-built “Queenslander” style medical centre.

The practice is located right in the middle of town and a “stones’ throw” from the local hospital, ambulance and aged care facility.

Wambo Medical is a modern medical practice focused on new technology and innovation.

The practice strategy is to create a centre of excellence for both patients and practitioners for the local community.

Wambo Medical is an amazing medical practice consisting of a large waiting room, six consulting rooms, on-site pathology and two treatment room area.

The centre also has a separate sterilising and vaccine area.

The Director and management team create a happy and healthy culture at the centre which enables flexible work arrangements to fit around family and lifestyle.

Every effort is made to make patients feel comfortable including:

  • A Childrens’ play area equipped with a play panel and plasma TV
  • White interior – including doctors desk and room fit-out
  • Fresh flowers and artwork
  • Friendly and caring support staff

You will NOT find:

  • Dirty posters on the wall
  • Broken Childrens’ games
  • Unfriendly staff
  • Ripped books and old magazines i.e. Elvis has just died!
  • Triple J radio and receptionists nodding their heads to the music

The practice uses the latest technology and is just about to change the software over
to Best Practice. We offer a generous percentage of fees and amazing support from the
doctors and local community. There are also financial incentives to move to a rural practice
including:

  • Rural Bulk Billing incentives
  • Health Workforce Scholarship Program
  • Financial support with costs of travel

This practice is luxurious and promotes the image of professionalism and warmth with stunning interior design.

The centre is painted in white and the consulting rooms are bright and airy. There are beautiful little patient benches outside the medical centre as well to take in the pretty gardens and flowers.

It is a truly beautiful little country practice. Doctors and staff feel very valued by patients in the community.
